Although headquartered in Boston, Quickbase is a worldwide company with employees across the US, UK, Europe, and Asia. As Global Benefits Manager at Quickbase, Kevin Sullivan manages benefits for the company’s 600+ remote-first employees across 46 U.S. states and several international locations.

Challenge: manual processes holding back company growth

Quickbase’s payroll team was drowning in the manual calculations of reimbursing employees’ expenses. When an employee submitted a claim, staff had to look up previous submissions and calculate the remaining balances.

“I married a math major for a very specific reason,” Kevin jokes. “The fewer numbers I need to calculate, the better it is for everybody.”

For a company planning significant growth, this benefit program wasn’t sustainable.
Luckily, Kevin saw an opportunity to streamline how Quickbase handled employee benefits.

What next: exploring solutions

“An employee in Bulgaria has the same user experience as an employee in the US,” Kevin shares. “So nobody can sit there and go, ‘Well, why did they have this and we don’t have this?'”

Kevin also loves how Compt’s flexibility helps his team react quickly to employee feedback. For example, when employees mentioned the need to increase the commuter stipend, he was able to offer this request in less than a week.

Looking ahead, his team is exploring ways to bring its current tuition reimbursement program, a manually intensive process via spreadsheets and emails, over to Compt. They’re also looking into more ways to further engage with their employees with an employee recognition program.
